This document details the conference proceedings and presentations of the 12th National Conference on Transportation Asset Management held in July 2018 in San Diego, CA.

This report synthesizes the responses to 63 challenging questions into 12 topic areas. Transportation agency members were asked to answer with the context of 10 to 20 years of the future in mind. In synthesizing these responses, this publication aims to bring together and update the transportation community on the fluid challenges transportation agencies may face in the future. The 12 synthesized topics are as follows: Transformational Technologies and Services, Serving a Growing and Shifting Population, Energy and Sustainability, Resilience and Security, Safety and Public Health, Equity, Governance, System Performance and Asset Management, Funding and Finance, Goods Movement, Institutional and Workforce Capacity, Research and Innovation.

This study seeks to understand customer and community expectations for the network performance indicators published by Austroads. It consists of a review of industry practices, development of key principles, consultation with stakeholders, and a dashboard proof of concept.

The National Performance Management Measures to Assess Pavement Condition (PM2) requires states develop Data Quality Management Programs (DQMPs) to improve their pavement condition metrics. This guidance explains FHWA's approval process for states' DQMPs including the evaluation criteria for different elements of the plan and examples of good practice at each step. In the appendix, there is also a template for the DQMP.

The Nebraska DOT LRP outlines the state's objectives across four key goal areas: safety, mobility, environmental stewardship, and coordinating and cooperation. It defines performance measures for each of these goal areas and describes specific objectives. Though this long range plan was published in 2012, the most recent update occurred in 2018, adding safety performance measures required by the FAST Act.

This long range plan consists of five Technical Memos guiding the performance measures and investment decisions for Missouri's transportation system. The first memo provides an overview of the state's goals, objectives and performance measures. The second and third memos describe the transportation system and the trends it faces, especially growing population and declining revenues. The penultimate memo dives into autonomous and connected vehicle technology and the efforts of Missouri to anticipate this technology. Lastly, the fifth memo outlines the transportation funding and needs.
