This report is Part B of NCHRP Report 750. Part B lays out 16 of the best practices for highway preservation, maintenance, and renewal.

This document contains appendices for the following two documents: NCHRP Report 750, Volume 7: Preservation, Maintenance, and Renewal of Highway Infrastructure and NCHRP Report, Volume 7, Part B, Practitioner's Guide to Emerging Highway Preservation, Maintenance, and Renewal Practices.

Many aspects of design developed by the coastal engineering community are applicable to coastal highway design, planning, and operation. In this manual, many of these concepts and tools are implemented to improve the resiliency of roads and bridges. As exposure to extreme weather events follows its increasing trend, many of these adaptations will become more important to maintaining the coastal highway system.

This report is a compilation of practices for rail maintenance and inspection, including how agencies identify rail defects. Data was collected from literature searches and surveys of heavy- and light-rail transit agencies.

This factsheet, available from the MinnesotaGO performance dashboard, describes how MnDOT uses state and federal performance measures. The factsheet explains the history, purpose, target setting processes, and other aspects of the state and federal performance measures.

In order to help transportation agencies better understand TPM federal regulations and requirements, USDOT and FHWA have created the video series, "TPM Essentials." The series comprises 18 short clips; each focuses on a specific aspect of federal TPM. The entire series can be found on FHWA's website here or on Youtube here.

"Overview of TPM and HPMS" outlines the key aspects of the relationship between TPM and the Highway Performance System (HPMS). Over the course of this 7.5-minute video, the clip answers the following questions:

• What is TPM?
• What is HPMS?
• How does TPM relate to HPMS?
• How has HPMS data changed under TPM?
• What new data items are required?

This section of the Code of Federal Regulations sets forth requirements for DOTs for creating asset management plans with the goal of improving or maintaining the condition of assets.

The American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Transportation Asset Management (TAM) Guide is designed to help agencies further their understanding of asset management techniques and practices. It focuses on business and engineering practices for resource allocation and utilization, with the objective of better decision making based upon quality information and well defined objectives.

The NCHRP 20-24 Task 124 Performance Management Reporting Peer Exchange was held on Tuesday October 16th and Wednesday October 17th, 2018 at the Hall of States in Washington D.C. Representatives from 18 state DOTS, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the Transportation Research Board (TRB) attended. Participants were subject matter experts in performance management, pavement management and communications. The goal of the Peer Exchange was to help DOTs develop a toolkit and strategies for communicating the difference between state and Federal pavement performance in a consistent narrative. While this Peer Exchange focused on pavement performance, the process can be used as a framework to develop strategies to help states communicate other performance measures. A toolkit and summary are available in addition to the final report.

This book hits on all aspects of managing public infrastructure: goal setting, maintenance, condition assessment, and risks and vulnerabilities to systems and how to address them. It also makes recommendations for budgeting and capital planning.

The Puerto Rico Highways and Transportation Authority (PRHTA) TAMP presents Puerto Rico's plan for achieving their bridge and pavement condition targets. Though still facing significant damages from Hurricane Maria and a backlog of repairs, PRHTA strives to improve their asset management processes and move away from their "worst-first" response. This TAMP describes the current condition of Puerto Rico's highway assets and establishes new strategies for asset management.
