As individuals and agencies dealt with the many challenges and adjustments of this time, many of the issues central to transportation also changed. This addendum to the Critical Issues in Transportation 2019 explores the short- and long-term impacts of the coronavirus pandemic on transportation in each of the areas defined in the original report.

The WSDOT dashboard is also notable for its incorporation of diversity, equity, and inclusion metrics as well as workforce development goals.

The tracker is updated each quarter and has data going back to 2005. The dashboard provides a wealth of information on numerous metrics in each category including clean visualizations, a write up of the measure, its purpose, and how data is collected.

On the dashboard homepage, users can easily see the current progress ITD has made on their selected performance measures. After clicking on any of the measures, they can view more information on the measure (including how and why it is measured) and trends over time.

The website identifies historic trends, includes maps overlaid with data, and tracks the current measures as they relate to ODOT's goals.

Asset ManagementThis TCRP Synthesis report presents an analysis of the current practices in rail asset management from the industry at large. The findings are based on the results of a survey of 28 heavy- and light-rail transit agencies across the US and three selected case studies. Specifically, this study looks at the rate of occurrence of rail defects, broken rails, and broken rail derailments and how that corresponds to the use of ultrasonic testing by agencies of different sizes and levels of transit system use.
